Ireland’s Call Gala Ball
On Saturday 27th January the inaugural Ireland’s Call Gala Ball was held in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin. With over 200 guests in attendance, the night was kicked off by the highly entertaining Eugene McCague, who welcomed all the guests and thanked everyone for attending this important event.
The highlight of the evening was an interview with Joe Schmidt by Mick Quinn. Joe Schmidt is one of the biggest supporters of the IRFU Charitable Trust and he was very informative and open about the upcoming Six Nations Championship and Grand Slam. The chat wasn’t always match-focused though and there were quite a few laughs too.
The entertainment continued with a panel discussion hosted by Mick Quinn who put Garry Ringrose, Luke Fitzgerald, Peter Clohessy and Hugo McNeill through their paces, very enjoyable for all the guests to hear the tales of Irish Rugby teams on tour down the years.
The purpose of the event was to raise funds for the IRFU Charitable Trust and guests were invited to bid on some amazing prizes such as Manchester United tickets, All Ireland Football Final tickets and signed Irish and Lions jerseys. The big attraction on the night was a dinner party for 10 guests in l’Ecrivain with Johnny Sexton as guest and this caused a lot of excitement in the room.
Overall the inaugural event raised over €78,000 and these funds will be used to help seriously injured rugby players. We would like to offer a special thanks to the event sponsors BNP Paribas and KPMG and also to those who provided auction prizes on the night.
We hope you all enjoyed your night and looking forward to welcoming you all again next year. Save The Date 26th January 2019 in your diary now!
