IRFU Charitable Trust Ulster Golf Outing

We are delighted to announce the inaugural IRFU Charitable Trust Ulster Golf Outing will take place at Lisburn Golf Club on Thursday 23rd May 2024 – all in aid of seriously injured rugby players.

We are also delighted to confirm our special guests for the day will be Ulster and Irish Rugby Legends, Tommy Bowe and David Humphreys; hosted by the very popular sports presenter Stephen Watson.  Thank you to all three of you for supporting this Charity event.

Thank you to the Charitable Trust’s Ulster Team of volunteers: Jan Cunningham and Philip Gregg for driving this event, as well as Simon Best, Stephen Elliot, Andrew Kelly and Robbie Milliken.  Special thanks to Ulster Rugby as well for their support and helping the Trust promote the Outing.  This will be the first time the Charitable Trust will have a Golf event in Ulster – with the purpose of raising further awareness for the Trust in Ulster and in particular to raise awareness for the 36 seriously injured amateur rugby players whom the Trust supports.  Sixteen of the 36 seriously injured players are from Ulster including Andrew Kelly, Niall McCool, Craig McMillan, David Ross, Ken McCormack, Mike Scott and Jamie Graham.  Jamie Graham, injured in 2006 is married to Natalie and has two gorgeous kids, Daisy and Judah.  Please take the time to listen to their story and watch their video on this page.

To echo Natalie’s and Jamie’s words, without the ongoing support and generosity of the rugby community, the IRFU Charitable Trust would not be able to help support the seriously injured rugby players and their families in Ulster.  Funds raised from our events, including the Ulster Golf Outing, help with everyday needs such as wheelchairs, medical treatment and physical therapy, as well as transportation, home renovations and recent ground breaking spinal injury repair research.  And speaking of the rugby community, we’d like to say a massive thank you to the incredible support shown by Ulster Rugby Clubs for this event!

We are currently sold out but we have a waiting list just in case.  We are limited to 22 teams and the format is a Scramble with a Shotgun start at 12:30.  There will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams, as well as for the longest drives (ladies and men) and nearest the pin on both the front nine and back nine.  All golfers will receive a goody bag and please ensure you sign up for the raffle to win some great prizes – with all proceeds going towards supporting seriously injured rugby players.  Following a gourmet sit-down BBQ after the golf, our special guests will have a Q&A followed by a Live Auction with exclusive “money can’t buy” prizes from the world of rugby; with particular thanks to Ulster Rugby for their generous contributions.
