2024 Munster Charity Golf Outing
Laura Guest and Keith Wood will be two of our very special guests with more to be announced, and Daire O’Brien is once again very kindly hosting the Q&A for the second IRFU Charitable Trust Munster Golf Outing taking place Friday 21st June 2024 on the Fota Island Deerpark Championship Course. The outing is kindly sponsored by our long term supporter and Golf Partner, Pinergy.
We are also delighted to announce that the Irish Examiner have come on board as our Munster Charity Golf Outing Media Partner.
Tee times for four-balls will commence from 1pm with tee-off times available on the 1st and 10th at ten minute intervals. We are nearly sold out – one team slot left! – hence please book now as we are restricted to 24 teams. We will once again have brilliant prizes for the 1st team (sponsored by Pinergy), 2nd placed and 3rd placed teams; as well as ‘Nearest the Pin’ on both the front and back nine, plus the Longest Drive for men and the Longest Drive for ladies. Before teeing off, golfers will receive a lunch roll with tea or coffee, as well as receiving their goody bags on registration. Following their round, golfers and guests will be treated to a gourmet BBQ which everyone agreed was outstanding for the first golf outing; as well as some complimentary beverages, kindly sponsored by Guinness. Later that evening, we will have a Q&A with special guests to be announced from Munster rugby as well as the very popular raffle and a silent auction for some very exclusive auction items.
The first outing held in June 2023 at Fota was sold out and despite overcast conditions was thoroughly enjoyed by golfers and guests alike as you will see from viewing the adjacent video completed by our Video Partner Get Broadcasting. Before tee-off, golfers and guests were able to get their photos taken with three very special guests – the Triple Crown, the Guinness Six Nations Trophy and the URC Trophy. The trophies were joined by some of Munster’s Championship squad including Shane Daly, Alex Kendellan, Niall Scannell and brother Rory. Some of these lads are hoping to join us again in Fota but that all depends on how the URC finals work out! In addition to these special guests, Joy Neville, Billy Holland and Jonny Holland were part of our Q&A hosted by the brilliant Daire O’Brien.
The 2023 outing raised a record amount of funds from a golf event for our seriously injured rugby players and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us on the day as golfers and guests. Deepest thanks to everyone who contributed so generously in providing golf prizes, raffle prizes and the silent auction items, and especially everyone who so generously contributed to the raffle and bought the silent auction items. We would also like to thank those businesses who sponsored Tee Signs. In addition, we would like to thank the Munster Golf organising committee led by Ed Kenny and supported by Pat Collins, Michael Keane, Feargus O’Donoghue and Bertie Smith; as well as volunteers Sandra Collins and Hilary Sheridan on the day. Finally, special thanks to Munster Rugby who provided fantastic support for the first and this golf outing as well as being one of the first to book a team!
Funds raised go towards supporting our seriously injured rugby players including Brendan Glynn, Danny Noonan and Mick O’Connell from Munster who were present at our first golf outing with their families and friends – and we will see them all again on the 21st of June. We hope the 2024 Munster Golf Outing is an even greater success with many of our teams returning again; as well as looking forward to welcoming new teams and guests.
