IRFU Charitable Trust 2023 Leinster Golf Outing
The annual Leinster Charitable Trust Golf Outing, kindly sponsored by Pinergy, took place on Friday 19th May 2023 on the East Course in Powerscourt Golf Club – all in aid of seriously injured rugby players and their families. Take a look at the adjacent video below to see how your support helps seriously injured players and their families.
After a couple of years of “no touching my golf ball” we were back to the very popular and social scramble format with a shotgun start at 12midday. Guests arrived from 10am for a savoury gammon breakfast roll and received a packed, certainly the heaviest, goody bag – the content of which you can see below noting CircleK very kindly also supplied water and an energy bar for all our golfers on the day as well. Plus – our Corporate Media Partner, Business Plus, also provided a copy of Business Plus to everyone. Thank you to all who contributed to the Goody Bag. And thank you as well to all businesses, including our Corporate Friends and Partners, for their Tee sponsorships.
Once everyone completed their round, we were treated to a gourmet BBQ from Powerscourt followed by prize giving to the winners on the day: team 1st prize went to Cleaning Contractors with a score that certainly cleaned up! 2nd prize went to our Video Partners Get Broadcasting with 3rd place going to Pinergy – our sponsors on the day. Pinergy very kindly supplied the 1st prize – a set of four TaylorMade Golf Cart Bags, Powerscourt Golf Club very kindly supplied the 2nd prize – four-ball x four, and Tipperary Crystal very kindly supplied the 3rd prize – a stunning Eoin O’Connor Hamper for each golfer. The longest drive – which does not do the shot justice as people were wondering did Rory McIlroy join the fray – was won by Harry Gillivan. One of our special guests on the day, Liam Toland, won ‘Nearest the Pinergy’.
Speaking of special guests, Liam was joined by ‘dancing with the stars’ and rugby superstar Shane Byrne as well as double Grand Slam U20s Winning Coach Richie Murphy – hosted by Nigel Osborne. Thank you gentlemen for the entertainment and in particular the insights in to the Leinster v La Rochelle match the following day – some of which came to pass unfortunately for Leinster but congratulations to La Rochelle and Ronan O’Gara.
There was also a presentation to a number of our Corporate Friends who were in attendance on the day – specifically Killester Travel and Sports Surgery Clinics were presented with their Corporate Friends membership frames. Earlier Nina Byrne from CircleK was presented with their Corporate Friends frame at the IRFU Charitable Trust at Lansdowne Road. Photos of all three receiving their frames can be seen in the gallery adjacent. Before the end of proceedings, the winners of the very impressive raffle prizes were drawn – thank you to everyone who entered the raffle and thank you to everyone who contributed so generously to the raffle – again, the prizes were impressive and greatly received.
The Charitable Trust would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsor Pinergy for their on-going support and generosity; and a heartfelt thank you to each of our volunteers on the day – your help makes all the difference and is greatly appreciated. Thanks to Powerscourt for hosting the event; and compliments to the team for a wonderfully run day and a stunning course. Finally, very special thanks to all our golf teams who joined us on the day – many of you are always at our annual golf outing and there were a few new faces which we love to see as well – thank you again everyone for a great day.
