2025 Ulster Charity Golf Outing in aid of seriously injured rugby players

After a great outing in 2024, Lisburn Golf Club will once again host the 2025 IRFU Charitable Trust Ulster Charity Golf Outing on Thursday 14th August 2025.

More great news – the brilliant Tommy Bowe will once again join us on the golf course as well as being our host for the post-golf entertainment including a Q&A with special guests from the world of rugby.   Paula Stewart, John Cooney, Jan Cunningham and Iain Henderson were our very special guests last year who gave us all great insights in to Ulster and Irish Rugby (with many correctly predicting a one-all outcome to the Ireland tour to South Africa!)  A special thank you as well to Ulster Rugby for their fantastic support leading up to and at the 2024 event!

The 2024 event was a sellout and a great success in terms of raising awareness and raising funds for the 16 seriously injured players from Ulster whom the care volunteers and IRFU Charitable Trust support.  Seriously injured rugby players Niall McCool, Ian Wallace and Andrew Kelly joined us for the 2024 outing and spoke about how the rugby community came together and continues to come together to help them in any way they can.  This was incredibly evident given the level of support for the first Ulster Charity Golf Outing in 2024, in particular across the Ulster Rugby Clubs who directly supported the outing.  Thank you to the Charitable Trust’s Ulster Team of volunteers; Jan Cunningham and Philip Gregg for driving the event, as well as incredible support from Stephen Elliot, Robbie Milliken, George Nelson and seriously injured player Andrew Kelly who captured a wonderful video of the event which you can see on this page.

In addition, a video featuring seriously injured player Jamie Graham and his family further captures the remarkable generosity and ongoing support of the rugby community in helping all seriously injured players and their families live their lives to the fullest.  Take the time to listen to Jamie’s story by watching the video on this page, very kindly produced by the Trust’s Corporate FRIEND and Video Partner Get Broadcasting.

Lisburn Golf Club was in immaculate condition for the 2024 event despite the blustery weather and all golfers were treated to a hearty breakfast bap before their round (thank you to Mel and his team) as well as a three course meal after the golf, with a drinks reception kindly sponsored by Tennents.  For 2025 we will once again have the above and more including another Charity Raffle, and a Silent Auction with unique Lots from the world of rugby and beyond.

We are now taking teams (four-ball) with a team of four costing £600.  Please note we are limited to 20 teams which resulted in a waiting list last year hence please book early to ensure you secure your place, as well as confirming your tee off time.

To book your team / tee time – please contact Linda in the IRFU Charitable Trust by emailing: linda.black@irfu.ie.

Tee times start from 12:30 on the 1st and 10th tees.  There will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams, as well as for the longest drives (ladies and men) and nearest the pin on both the front nine and back nine.  All golfers will receive a goody bag and please ensure you once again sign up for the Charity Raffle to win some great prizes – with all proceeds going towards supporting seriously injured rugby players.  On completion of your round, you will be treated to a drinks reception, gourmet sit-down BBQ, and Q&A with special guests hosted by the very special Tommy Bowe!

In addition, please remember that the winning team from the 2025 Ulster Charity Golf Outing will automatically qualify for the 2026 IRFU Charitable Trust “Irish Rugby 150th Golf Cup”.  The 2024 winners – GMcG Group, will play in the 2025 Irish Rugby Golf Cup at The K Club, Palmer North Championship course on Friday 6th June 2025; competing against the other three provincial winning teams from Connacht, Leinster and Munster; as well as a participating teams on the day.

Finally, the IRFU Charitable Trust is actively seeking a sponsor for the Ulster Charity Golf Outing in 2025.  If you would like to take up the sponsorship or know a business that may be interested, we would be delighted to hear from you.  For more details on the event sponsorship opportunity, please contact Linda at: linda.black@irfu.ie.
