2025 Munster Charity Golf Outing in aid of seriously injured rugby players
We go again – the third annual Munster Charity Golf Outing will take place at Fota Island Golf Resort on Friday 27th June 2025. Kindly sponsored by the Trust’s long term supporter and Golf Partner Pinergy, the Outing builds on the success of the two previous Munster Charity Golf events in raising awareness for how the IRFU Charitable Trust supports seriously injured players and their families across all four provinces. There are six seriously injured players in Munster, including Brendan Glynn, Danny Noonan and Mick O’Connell who joined us with their families and friends in Fota on both previous Golf Outings – and we hope to see all of them again in 2025!
At our last outing we were joined by Munster greats Laura Guest and Keith Wood for a brilliant Q&A with MC Daire O’Brien. Another Munster great, Donal Lenihan, along with our event media partner, the Irish Examiner, also joined us on the day fielding a team. The Examiner spoke with seriously injured player Mick O’Connell before the Golf Outing – please take the time to read the article by clicking here as it shows how important and incredible the rugby family in Ireland is to Mick and all our seriously injured rugby players and their families. Thank you to all and thank you as well to Munster Rugby for their great support and for also fielding a team.
Munster players Shane Daly and Alex Kendellen were back to support the event in 2024 and were joined by Scott Buckley and Alex Nankivell. Although Brendan, Danny and Mick were seriously injured playing rugby, they remain avid supporters of the game to this day. So thank you Shane, Alex, Scott and Alex for spending time with Brendan, Danny and Mick, along with their family members and friends; this means a lot, and in particular to Brendan’s nephew Conor, who managed to get his hands on a Munster Jersey signed by the team!
In keeping with the last two Munster Charity Golf Outings, tee times for four-balls will commence from 1pm with tee-off times available on the 1st and 10th at ten minute intervals. The event was a sellout again this year hence please book early to reserve your team and be in with a chance of winning: 1st team prize (sponsored by Pinergy), or 2nd or 3rd; as well as ‘Nearest the Pinergy’ on both the front and back nine, plus the Longest Drive for men and the Longest Drive for ladies. Before teeing off, golfers will receive a lunch roll with tea or coffee, as well as receiving their goody bags on registration. Following their round, golfers and guests will be treated to a gourmet BBQ; as well as some complimentary beverages, kindly sponsored by Guinness. Later that evening, we will have a Q&A with special guests to be announced from Munster rugby as well as the very popular raffle and a silent auction for some very exclusive auction items.
Both the 2023 and 2024 Munster Charity Golf Outings raised significant funds for our seriously injured rugby players and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us both days. Deepest thanks to everyone who contributed so generously in providing golf prizes, raffle prizes and the silent auction lots, and especially everyone who so generously contributed to the raffle and bid on the silent auction. We would also like to thank those businesses who sponsored Tee Signs, including Kearys Motor Group, and if you can’t field a team in 2025, you can support the event by sponsoring a Tee Box.
We hope the 2025 Munster Golf Outing is an even greater success and we hope to see as many of our teams return again; as well as many new faces.
