Club FRIENDS Wanderers FC and Dungannon RFC
Wanderers FC very kindly hosted a Charity Lunch in aid of seriously injured rugby players on Saturday 4th November 2023 when Wanderers FC took on Dungannon RFC at the Aviva Stadium. Many, many thanks to Wanderers FC, and in particular Greg Hopkins and Declan O’Brien, as well as Dungannon RFC, for embracing the event. The generosity of both the Wanderers supporters and Dungannon supporters on the day was incredible resulting in just over €2,800 raised for the IRFU Charitable Trust through a raffle run by Linda Black and Hilary Sheridan. Thank you to those who contributed to the Raffle including Dungannon Golf Club, Thomas’s of Foxrock, Stacks Pharmacy, Royal Marine Hotel, Druids Glen Resort, Canterbury and the IRFU.
In addition, Wanderers FC launched their Yearbook at the event with Wanderers very kindly offering the IRFU Charitable Trust a full page ad in the Yearbook to promote the Trust’s FRIENDS Programme. Both Wanderers FC and Dungannon RFC are Club FRIENDS to the IRFU Charitable Trust. The Trust is particularly close to the hearts of Wanderers FC given Garrett Culliton of Wanderers is one of the 35 seriously injured players the Trust supports. Support takes many forms including house renovations, vehicle alterations, physiotherapy and education, as well as wheelchairs. In the case of wheelchairs, Garrett has said he could not have followed his dreams without the support of the Charitable Trust who supplied Garrett with his specialized wheelchair for wheelchair rugby, a sport he loves playing, but also his wheelchair for when Garrett participated in the Paralympics. Please take the time to watch Garrett’s video below.
The support of Club FRIENDS like Wanderers FC and Dungannon RFC are greatly appreciated. If your Club would like to become a FRIEND to the IRFU Charitable Trust in helping to support all 35 seriously injured rugby players and their families, then please click here to join.
Thank you again to all the Wanderers and Dungannon supporters and the best of luck to both of you for the season ahead.
