Pinergy sponsor our second Golf Outing of 2021
On a sunny but very blustery day, the IRFU Charitable Trust Golf Outing on Friday 1st October took place on the West Course in Powerscourt Golf Club – a nice change of scenery from our East Course Outing in June. A special thank you to Pinergy for sponsoring both Golf Outings. The support of Pinergy for our seriously injured players during these difficult times is greatly appreciated.
Twenty-five teams took part in our team sheet scramble with Kearys Motor Group taking 1st place with an immaculate score securing the team a TaylorMade Spider Putter each kindly provided by Pinergy (each Putter worth over €300!). Philip ‘Philly’ Caldwell’s team took 2nd place. To see Philip enjoying himself out playing golf, and as he said himself “I didn’t let the team down on my drives”, is inspirational when you consider the spinal injury Philip suffered back in July 2020. What is even more inspirational is to see Philip and his team come out to support his rugby family who have also been seriously injured.
Eric Linnane’s team came in 3rd with previous Irish International David Quinlan winning ‘Nearest the Pinergy’ and the Longest Drive won by Sean Mulvey. The Raffle Winners were: €200 Circle K Voucher – Cliodhna McCarthy; €100 MacKenzie’s Restaurant Voucher – Gay Connolly; Purty Kitchen Voucher – Tony Frew; Clontarf Golf Club Fourball – Robert Deacon; €100 Dogget Group Print Voucher – David Quinlan (who kindly donated the prize back to the Trust); Studio 41 x12 Personal Training Sessions – Mick Gallacher; and the Charitable Trust Golf Pack – Peter Bastable.
Thank you to the staff at Powerscourt Golf Club and all our volunteers on the day. Our goody bag was once again packed thanks to: Aldi, All Real, Defiant, Mude, Nestlé, Snack Farm, The Handmade Soap Co., and in particular our media partner – Extra.ie. Special thanks to our special guests who joined us on the day: Shane Byrne, Mick Galwey, David Quinlan and Liam Toland. Unfortunately Gordon D’Arcy and Luke Fitzgerald could not make it.
A very special thank you to VOTN for creating a video of the day – please check out their incredible video adjacent.
Finally, thank you to all our teams who joined us on the day. Your support during these difficult times for all charities is humbling and always appreciated.
