IRFU Charitable Trust 45th Anniversary Aon Lunch 2023

We are further delighted to announce that another Grand Slam winning captain – Fiona Coghlan will join Johnny Sexton as our special guests for the Aon Lunch this November.  Like Johnny, Fiona has been a long term supporter of the Charitable Trust.

Since 1978 the IRFU Charitable Trust has supported those who have been seriously injured playing the game we all love.  The Aon Lunch this year coincides with our 45th year and to mark the occasion, our seriously injured players and their families will join us on Friday 17th November in the InterContinental Hotel Dublin.

Our deepest thanks to Aon for their ongoing support – without Aon’s compassion and commitment, the lunch would not be possible and the event remains a key occasion for the Trust and an important fundraiser every year.  For the first time, we will be holding the lunch in the beautiful InterContinental Hotel in Ballsbridge – always a favourite amongst rugby fans.  Special thanks to our media partner for the event this year, Business Plus.

We hope this year’s lunch will celebrate a great Rugby World Cup campaign for Irish Rugby – continuing their success since winning the series in New Zealand, defeating current world champions South Africa last November – and in the Pool Stages! – plus winning the Grand Slam on St Patrick’s weekend this year!

The event as always will kick off with a drinks reception at 12midday, kindly sponsored by our drinks partner Guinness, following by silver service lunch at 1pm.  Some of you may recall our 40th anniversary lunch with legend Ollie Campbell giving a very special and touching speech about all our seriously injured players and their families.  We also had very special guests that commemorative year including Robbie Henshaw and Sonny Bill Williams, Tommy Bowe and Doug Howlett – legends all.  You can relive that wonderful day by clicking here.

We expect this to be our biggest lunch ever with more guests from the world of rugby in attendance as well as our seriously injured players and their families.  To ensure you secure your table, please contact Linda Black on 01 647 3866 or email charitabletrust@irfu.ie.  Thank you again for your ongoing support of our seriously injured rugby players and their families.
